Early Sunday morning, a reported armed robbery at Royal Liquor on Bear Valley Road in Hesperia led to the identification and arrest of suspect Davon Burson, a 21-year-old Victorville resident and convicted felon. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department stated that the suspect, wielding a gun, demanded money from the store clerk, threatening harm if the demands were not met.
According to KTLA, Burson managed to quickly flee the scene with $100, only to be later apprehended by deputies who located his vehicle shortly after midnight on Monday. It was during this traffic stop that deputies were able to positively identify and then arrest Burson. A subsequent search warrant conducted at Burson’s home turned up several firearms, including a short-barrel rifle and a submachine gun, alongside a 9mm magazine and various ammunition.
"Burson is a felon and is prohibited from being in possession of firearms and ammunition," the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department stated. This led to Burson's booking into the High Desert Detention Center for numerous charges. These charges included robbery, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a short-barreled rifle, a large capacity magazine, and a machine gun.
The authorities are issuing a call to action for anyone with further information about this case to reach out.
