The City of Dallas is preparing to implement a significant change in how it manages construction-related documentation. Effective May 5, the City will launch a new digital platform, DallasNow, which will replace both ProjectDox and the existing Contractor Website. This consolidated system is intended to streamline project submissions, permitting, and inspection processes.
In preparation for this transition, the City of Dallas has announced revised office hours at the Planning & Development Department, located at 320 E. Jefferson Blvd. From April 21 through April 24, the office will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and will close early at 4:00 p.m. on April 25. Additionally, all current permitting systems will be taken offline from April 25 at 4:00 p.m. through May 4, during which no online or in-person permitting services will be available.
Despite the system outage, certain services will continue. Emergency utility releases and consultations will remain operational, and while inspections will be limited, the City has indicated that an alternative scheduling process will be made available. Stakeholders are advised to monitor their email for updates and further instructions, particularly if they are managing active projects during this period.
To ensure a smooth transition, the City strongly encourages all builders, contractors, and developers to plan accordingly for the scheduled system downtime. For assistance or additional information, individuals may contact the Planning & Development Department directly at 214-948-4480 or visit the office in person.
