The City of Dallas Planning & Development Department is set to take a significant step forward with the launch of its new DallasNow platform on May 5. An announcement details a scheduled downtime as they transition from current online systems to the newly touted, user-friendly DallasNow. Starting April 25 at 4 p.m., services will be put on hold until May 4 as part of the data migration process. This hiatus affects systems such as ProjectDox, the Contractor's Portal, and Posse, making it impossible to process existing applications or accept new ones during this time frame.
Despite the service interruption, which inevitably inconveniences some, these changes have a silver lining. Before the downtime, the Oak Cliff Municipal Center is extending its hours for two weeks, beginning April 14, providing more time for customers to get their affairs in order before the transition to DallasNow kicks in. This information comes courtesy of a bulletin from the City of Dallas, inviting constituents to prepare for the shift and take advantage of the extended service hours from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
According to the city's publication, DallasNow promises a host of benefits for users. It introduces real-time notifications, including confirmations, inspection statuses, and detailed fee breakdowns. Moreover, the platform is said to enable users to apply, track, and review applications electronically and submit online payments. The city's push for increased transparency and streamlined operations is encapsulated in the features DallasNow is expected to offer.
