The Dallas community is seeing the candidates vying to be the city's next law enforcement and fire rescue leaders. Starting earlier this week, the selection process for the new Dallas Police Department Chief kicked off, with a roster of experienced candidates lined up for the position. According to an announcement from the City of Dallas, the prospects include Roberto Arredondo, Jr., current Chief of Police for the Carrollton Police Department; Brian Boetig, retired Assistant Director of the FBI; Daniel C. Comeaux, Special Agent in Charge at the DEA's Houston Field Division; Michael T. Igo, Interim Chief of Police for the Dallas Police Department; and Catrina M. Shead, Assistant Chief of the Dallas Police Department.

The schedule for these candidates started with a Meet & Greet session with the City Council and continued with panels composed of community representatives, law enforcement experts, and city officials. The public also had an opportunity to meet with the finalists at a session held at City Hall. Dallas City Manager Tolbert, overseeing the final decision-making process, is expected to appoint the successful candidate by mid-April.

Similarly, candidates for the Dallas Fire-Rescue Chief position have also been announced, featuring current and former high-ranking fire officials. These finalists, as described by the City of Dallas, include Todd Alt, Assistant Chief of Tampa, Florida Fire Rescue; Justin Ball, Interim Fire Chief of Dallas Fire-Rescue; Raymond Hill, Executive Assistant Chief of Fort Worth Fire Department; and Samuel Peña, former Fire Chief of Houston Fire Department. They will follow similar meetings with the City Council, the public, and stakeholders to bolster transparency and community involvement in the selection process.
