Big news from the University of Utah Health this week as they've just tapped a new leader for their Huntsman Mental Health Institute. Dave Eldredge, MSW, LCSW, is stepping up to the plate as the Executive Director, taking over the reins with more than 25 years of leadership chops in the bag. This isn't Eldredge's first rodeo at the university; he's been climbing the ranks there for a while now, holding titles like Senior Director of Clinical Operations at the same mental health hub he's now set to lead.
According to University of Utah Health, Eldredge will be juggling a lot in his new gig, clinical ops, strategy, mental health program development, you name it. He's directly reporting to Gina Hawley, DrPH, MHA, the Chief Operating Officer at the University of Utah Health Hospitals & Clinics. Plus, he's set to join forces with the likes of Brett Graham and Jim Ashworth to make sure everything's clicking together nicely across clinical care, research, and ed programs. Hawley's already singing his praises, saying, "Dave has been instrumental in shaping the direction of behavioral health services at the University of Utah. His commitment to improving patient care, expanding access to mental health services, and fostering community partnerships aligns perfectly with our mission."
Before he landed this top spot, Eldredge was busy as the Director of Behavioral Health Crisis at Huntsman Mental Health Institute, where he helped whip up a crisis response system that's touted as one of the nation's most comprehensive. Now, as Executive Director, he's got his eyes on the institute’s clinical services, which include a 161-bed hospital, outpatient clinics, telehealth options, and even residential services. According to information obtained by the University of Utah Health, Eldredge dished on his new post: "It’s an honor to serve as Executive Director of the Huntsman Mental Health Institute. Huntsman Mental Health Institute has a rich legacy, and I’m proud to be part of an organization deeply committed to integrated, compassionate care. From educating hundreds of learners to advancing research and expanding access to life-saving services, our work is truly inspiring. I look forward to continuing this important work and shaping the future of mental health care."
