A 71-year-old Daytona Beach man, Kevin McNamara, is facing a slew of felony charges following a road rage incident that escalated into an attack on an SUV carrying six children. According to WESH, the confrontation began on Beville Road and culminated in a violent episode on a golf course parking lot off Wilder Avenue on Wednesday.
The incident started with McNamara tailgating the victims' SUV, which resulted in a verbal and physical altercation that included the accused hitting their vehicle and allegedly spitting at a passenger. In their effort to escape the aggression, the victims, which included the driver who was the mother of the children, sought refuge in a parking lot — only to be pursued and attacked once more by McNamara, who is accused of ramming their vehicle from behind and again on the driver's side. As detailed by WESH, a witness at the golf range described the intrusion as McNamara came in "screaming like a bat out of hell."
As reported by ClickOrlando, law enforcement tracked down McNamara after the event and apprehended him later that evening. They discovered a BB gun in his truck, which was subsequently seized, and his vehicle was impounded.
Currently held on a $150,000 bond, McNamara faces nine counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and six counts of child abuse, as revealed by law enforcement.
