Seventy years ago, on April 21, 1955, tragedy struck the heart of our community as Private Preston T. Garrison of Truck Co. 13 made the ultimate sacrifice while battling a fierce blaze, as reported by the DC Fire and EMS.
According to the commemorative social media post from DC Fire and EMS, Garrison passed away in the line of duty when he tragically fell through the roof of a burning commercial building, set ablaze amidst the chaos of a 3rd Alarm on Box 6283, located in the 1300 block of Linden Court NE.
