As Detroit residents brace themselves for an erratic week of weather, the latest forecasts predict a smorgasbord of conditions ranging from sunny skies to potential thunderstorms. Precipitation seems to be the cornerstone of the week’s meteorological narrative, starting off with a 40% chance of showers today, according to the National Weather Service. Detroiters can expect a high near 70 degrees amidst breezy conditions, with wind gusts reaching up to 29 mph.
The city is set to cool down by evening, as the skies clear to partly cloudy with a low around 42 degrees. However, the winds are not expected to calm, maintaining their pace at 14 to 18 mph and potentially gusting to nearly the same highs as earlier in the day. Tuesday seems to hardly offer a respite, with showers likely, particularly between the morning and early afternoon hours. "Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. Windy, with a west wind 21 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph," the National Weather Service details have indicated; residents should therefore be prepared to not only carry their umbrellas but to also anchor them firmly against the formidable gusts.
Rain may stop for a bit, but chilly winds will stick around through Tuesday night. Skies will stay mostly cloudy with a low near 36°F. Things start looking up on Wednesday, with mostly sunny skies, lighter northwest winds around 13 mph (gusts up to 21 mph), and warmer highs near 55°F, as reported by the National Weather Service.
Wednesday night will be mostly clear with temperatures dropping to around 34°F. Thursday will be sunny and warmer, with highs near 60°F. But rain is expected to return late Thursday night, after 2 a.m., as clouds increase and temps stay around 47°F. Friday brings a higher chance of rain, especially in the afternoon, with possible thunderstorms at night. Despite the wet weather, highs will stay near 70°F, as stated by the National Weather Service.
To end the week, Detroit could see some rain on Saturday, but it should be partly sunny with a high around 63°F. Sunday looks more stable, with mostly sunny skies and a cooler high near 58°F. As always in April, the weather can change quickly, so it's a good idea to keep an eye on the forecast, as per the National Weather Service.
