The City of Sacramento’s Department of Utilities will host a garden tour on May 3, featuring California native plants and sustainable landscaping. The event will focus on water conservation and yard replanting options, according to the City of Sacramento.
The drought-tolerant garden at 1395 35th Avenue will be open from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Visitors can explore nearly 30 varieties of California native plants and purchase plants from a local mobile nursery. "We’re excited to open the garden on a weekend so more people can discover the beauty and benefits of California native plants," said William Granger, the City of Sacramento’s water conservation coordinator.
On May 3, the California Native Plant Society will host the Gardens Gone Native Plant Tour, a free self-guided tour of gardens featuring native plants around the Sacramento area. Utilities staff will be available to answer questions and provide information. "We will also be on hand to provide information about the City’s water conservation rebates and how residents can incorporate native plants into their own yards," Granger said, as reported by the City of Sacramento.
