A serious collision earlier this month was attributed to the driver of a Mercedes-Benz running a red light. According to The Baltimore Banner, the incident, which occurred on April 19 at approximately 5 P.M., led to a Johns Hopkins shuttle bus crashing into a building and injuring multiple people.
The Baltimore Police Department's findings place blame squarely on the driver of the luxury car, who is reported to have ignored the traffic signal at the intersection of E. 25th Street and North Charles Street, causing the shuttle to lose control. The subsequent chaos not only left the bus and two other vehicles with significant damage but also condemned a corner building due to severe structural damage, according to information released by the police and cited by WMAR 2 News. It remains unclear whether a citation was officially issued to the driver of the Mercedes-Benz.
All affected individuals, including the drivers and at least nine others, were transported to the hospital with injuries ranging from non-life-threatening to serious, as confirmed by the police and detailed in a report by The News-Letter.
Johns Hopkins University has been actively reaching out to support those impacted by the crash, with a spokesperson affirming that "All impacted students will continue to receive outreach and follow-up support in the coming months and, if needed, throughout their time at the university," as reported by The Baltimore Banner.
