Duluth's Main Street has been given a creative makeover with new storm drain murals, designed by Atlanta-based artist Brianna Gardocki. The colorful artwork, located near the Duluth Public Library, serves as a public reminder about stormwater pollution and the importance of keeping waterways clean.
According to the City of Duluth website, this initiative blends art with environmental awareness, with local officials and organizations such as the Duluth Public Art Commission and Explore Gwinnett participating in the unveiling. The murals carry the simple message: Rainwater is the only thing that should go down the drain.
The project highlights the role of art in educating the community about environmental responsibility, with leaders such as Mayor Greg Whitlock and councilmembers Jamin Harkness, Marline Thomas, and Manfred Graeder celebrating the effort. The murals not only beautify the area but also encourage residents to consider the impact of their actions on the environment.
