Last night's rolling gun battle on the streets of Durham has left several individuals dead following a high-speed crash, according to a report from the Durham County Sheriff's Office. The incident, which began just before 6:30 p.m. in the vicinity of the 8200 block of Ball Rd, escalated when occupants of two vehicles exchanged gunfire.
Deputies were dispatched to the scene following reports of the shooting. A patrol deputy encountered the suspect vehicles while heading north on Roxboro St. As the law enforcement attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicles fled southbound, intensifying their reckless getaway. The deputy, losing sight of the vehicles in their pursuit, soon came upon the aftermath of a tragedy—the wreckage of one of the vehicles near Roxboro St and Latta Rd.
