Early Tuesday morning, a fire broke out in a detached garage in East Austin, resulting in a swift response from the Austin Fire Department, according to CBS Austin. The blaze, which fully engulfed the structure on the 3000 block of East 16th Street, was contained without spreading to neighboring homes.
One resident managed to evacuate the garage before the arrival of fire crews. Damages to nearby power lines caused by the fire led to power outages affecting area residents, as KVUE reports. Consequently, Austin Energy workers were called to the scene to conduct repairs, though it was not immediately known when power would be restored.
No injuries were reported in the incident, and the person who was living inside the garage was able to escape unharmed. Firefighters extinguished the flames before they could pose a greater threat to the dense residential area.
