El Paso Community College's baseball team ended its home games with a flourish this weekend, securing a sweeping victory over Clarendon College. The Tejanos' display of athleticism and strategy earned them an impressive series of wins, as reported by El Paso Community College news. The freshman infielder, Chris Tavarez, played a pivotal role in Friday's opener with his two-run walk-off home run, clinching an 8-7 win for the Tejanos. They maintained their dominance in the second game of the evening, concluding with a commanding 14-6 score.
The saga of triumphs continued into Saturday, where the EPCC team managed yet another narrow victory with a 4-3 score. The day ended in a show of overwhelming force, as the Tejanos imposed a five-inning mercy rule to finalize their victory at 15-5. With these wins, EPCC has strengthened its overall record to 36-16, with an 18-14 standing within the Western Junior College Athletic Conference, as detailed by El Paso Community College news. This successful run places them one game ahead of Howard College for the cherished final WJCAC playoff spot.
However, the weekend was not as fortunate for the EPCC softball team, which faced challenges against Midland College. The Lady Tejanos struggled, faltering with 11-1 and 9-4 losses last Friday, followed by 13-3 and 16-1 defeats last Saturday. Despite these setbacks, the EPCC softball team is gearing up to take on the league leaders, Odessa College, in an upcoming series set for May 2-3.
