Viewers told local reporters they saw police swarming the school on Pellicano Drive, though the exact cause of the lockdown remained unclear as of Friday morning.
The lockdown and law enforcement response were first reported by KTSM 9 News, which said viewers alerted the station to the situation at the school. The outlet reported that emergency air medical transportation, dispatched by the El Paso Fire Department, responded to the incident in East El Paso, though it was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured or transported. KTSM said it reached out to the Socorro Independent School District for more information and asked El Paso police whether they were assisting in an investigation, but had not received answers as of publication.
The helicopter dispatched to the scene is likely operated by FireSTAR, an airborne trauma rescue service the El Paso Fire Department launched in September 2024 through a five-year partnership with Air Methods, according to a release from Air Methods.
