El Paso County has seen its fair share of property crimes, and a recent burglary at an Extra Space Storage facility is the latest incident to raise the red flag. On Monday, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office was tipped off to a burglary that saw over $13,000 worth of property, including jewelry and watches, vanish into the night. El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte reported that deputies responded promptly to the scene.

Determined to leave no stone unturned, detectives at East Montana Patrol Station's Criminal Investigation Unit swung into action. Following the bread crumbs, their persistence uncovered not just a separate storage unit cramming most of the stolen goods, but the suspect as well. Having executed two search warrants, the officers found fourteen boxes harboring the stolen treasures. Amanda Sue Randolph, age 41, emerged as the prime suspect during an operation conducted by the detectives. Interviews with witnesses and persons of interest provided further information, paving the way for a third search warrant for Randolph's apartment at 12701 Eastlake, said the Sheriff Ugarte's office.

Witnesses and others of interest spoke up, providing the pieces of a puzzle that completed the picture of the crime. Their cooperation with the detectives was crucial, yielding additional stolen items discovered at Randolph's residence. The alleged thief's vehicle, a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was also seized and searched under a fourth warrant, resulting in the collection of compelling evidence from inside the car.

Not stopping there, Randolph was handcuffed and delivered to the El Paso County Detention Facility, carrying the charge of Burglary of a Building on her back. Her bond has been set at a weighty $10,000, and "additional charges are expected," the Sheriff's office ominously added. Upholding their commitment to law and order, the Sheriff's office declared, "We are committed to holding individuals accountable for their actions and will continue to pursue and prosecute those involved in theft and related offenses."
