
An early morning altercation in Kapa‘a Shopping Center parking lot on Wednesday resulted in a stabbing that left a 75-year-old man injured. According to a press release from the Kaua‘i Police Department (KPD), the response to the incident was prompted around 8:40 a.m. when they received a report of the stabbing.
Upon arrival, officers found the elderly man with multiple stab wounds and transported him to Wilcox Medical Center, where his condition has been stated as stable. The alleged assailant, 76-year-old Ivo Miller, who is without a known permanent address, was arrested nearby without further incident. Held on charges of Terroristic Threatening in the First Degree and Assault in the First Degree, he remains in KPD cellblock, with bail set at $100,000.
KPD expressed their gratitude towards the bystanders who courageously stepped in and offered support to the victim when the stabbing occurred, emphasizing the community's role in emergency situations. The department currently continues its investigation into the matter and has called upon the public for additional information.
