An 80-year-old woman has been found deceased following a house fire in Pierce County, according to a recent update by the local Sheriff's Department. On Sunday, around 10:30 p.m., fire crews and deputies responded to an emergency call from the 8200 block of 121st Street E. The Pierce County Fire Marshall, along with Sheriff's Office detectives and forensics teams, were dispatched to investigate the scene.
As stated in the official social media post by the Sheriff's Department, the cause of the fire that claimed the life of the elderly woman remains unknown, with an ongoing investigation attempting to uncover further details.
In a separate incident, law enforcement officers attended to a curious case involving a road rage shooting that led to a car collision. On the early hours of Monday, a 33-year-old man reported being shot at and subsequently crashing his car into a power pole on the 4600 block of 205th St Ct E. The victim was treated for a gunshot wound to his leg, however, officers noted a lack of bullet holes in the vehicle, spurring an investigation into the questionable circumstances surrounding the event.
Pierce County deputies also recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested two individuals after spotting a Honda in the parking lot of a Panda Express. Upon attempting to stop the vehicle on Sunday, a 20-year-old female driver was taken into custody, and a 42-year-old male passenger was released on the scene. The woman was subsequently charged with possession of stolen property and issued a trespass notification from the Walmart complex where the incident took place. The stolen Honda has since been towed for safekeeping.
