The Fairfield County Sheriff's Office Investigations Bureau, under Sheriff Alex Lape, is seeking an individual linked to recent thefts from two gas stations in Canal Winchester. A social media post from the Sheriff's Office details the theft incidents that occurred on April 23 and April 27. The suspect, captured in surveillance footage, is accused of stealing several cartons of cigarettes from both Speedway and BP gas stations.
The first crime occurred at the Speedway on Bowen Road at approximately 11:16 p.m. on April 23. The suspect was seen driving a U-Haul van with a female passenger. A mere four days later, this same suspect is reported to have brazenly committed a similar crime at a BP gas station on W. Waterloo St. This time, the suspect was last seen driving away in a White or Gray Honda CRV. Detective Joseph Jenkins is leading the investigation and has requested the public's assistance in identifying the perpetrator promptly. "If anyone has any information as to the identity of these persons, please contact me directly," Jenkins stated in the announcement.
The Sheriff's Office is concerned about the repercussions of such blatant theft. As outlined in their social media appeal, they have released images of the suspect in the hope that members of the community will help bring this individual to justice. The community also has a role to play in actively participating in the safeguarding of their streets and establishments by reporting any information that could potentially lead to an arrest. Officials encourage reporting any details, even anonymously, as every piece of evidence could prove critical.
The Fairfield County Sheriff's Office remains dedicated to upholding the law and ensuring the safety of its constituents. Those with insights into the identity of the rogue figure or the reported crimes are encouraged to contact Detective Jenkins at (740) 652-7336 or via email at [email protected].
