Following a violent altercation in Fairfield, one man has been arrested after a brief police standoff. The incident occurred around 6:56 pm yesterday when Fairfield police were called to the 1600 block of Sunset Avenue. Two men had reportedly been fighting in a parking lot, according to a recent social media post from the Fairfield Police Department.

Upon their arrival, officers found one man injured and still at the scene. The altercation's other participant, however, had fled. It was at a local hospital where the injured individual would receive medical attention; the department's post disclosed that officers traced the man who had fled, identified as 51-year-old Michael Upchurch, to a nearby apartment and secured a warrant for his arrest in addition to his four outstanding felony and two misdemeanor warrants.

The attempted apprehension of Upchurch wasn't immediate, as he initially resisted arrest, but eventually, the Fairfield police reported that he submitted it and was taken into custody without further incident. Upchurch is now at the County Jail, facing a charge of battery with serious bodily injury in connection to the fight, along with being processed for his pre-existing warrants.
