
A fatal incident occurred on Sunday night in St. Louis following a carjacking that led to a high-speed police chase and a deadly collision. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department website, a 22-year-old woman was carjacked at gunpoint around 8:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Belt Avenue near Enright Avenue. The suspects fled the scene in her Nissan Altima.
SLMPD’s Real-Time Crime Center quickly directed officers to the location of the stolen vehicle. A Mobile Reserve officer later spotted the car on Natural Bridge Avenue. Despite police attempts to stop the vehicle using lights and sirens, the suspects continued fleeing at high speed.
The stolen vehicle ran a red light at the intersection of Natural Bridge and Union, crashing into a Hyundai Sonata. The driver of the Sonata, a woman in her 40s, was transported to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Police apprehended all five occupants of the stolen vehicle at the scene. The group included two adults, aged 22 and 20, and three juveniles. The adults were taken to the hospital with injuries. A firearm was recovered from a 16-year-old male juvenile at the scene. Police also recovered another firearm and a replica firearm from the vehicle.
The SLMPD is actively investigating the incident. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
