
A tragic vehicular incident occurred last night on Baseline Road in Trowbridge Township, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries, as reported by Allegan County Central Dispatch. FOX17 disclosed that the accident took place around 7:30 PM, involving a westbound truck that veered off its course, striking another truck and several bystanders before ending its catastrophic journey.
Authorities believe the driver of the westbound truck lost control after crossing the centerline and sideswiping an eastbound truck. It went off the road and not only struck several people but also a tree and subsequently flipped over, landing in Baseline Lake, according to WOODTV. While the occupants of the sideswiped eastbound truck escaped unharmed, two people from the area of the crash were rushed to the hospital, where one failed to survive the injuries sustained.
The driver responsible for the accident and a passenger from the westbound truck were also transported to a local hospital for treatment, though details regarding their conditions remain undisclosed at this time, meanwhile, the second pedestrian's state of health was not released, as per the report from MLive. The Allegan County Sheriff's Office suspects that both speed and alcohol were contributing factors in this devastating crash.
While the investigation is ongoing, the names and other identifiers of the individuals involved are currently being withheld, this crash brought together various emergency response teams, including the Allegan County Crash Reconstruction Team, Van Buren County Sheriff's Office, Michigan State Police, and several local fire and EMS crews for support during this critical situation, the collective effort of these teams has been acknowledged by local authorities and expect findings from the investigation in due course.
