
A fire in Lowell, Massachusetts late yesterday night has resulted in one fatality and left another individual with serious injuries. According to 7NEWS, officials reported that the Lowell Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 144 Appleton Street around 9 p.m. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke billowing from the front of the building where one seriously injured person was found outside.
The injured person was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, while it was later disclosed that others in the residence were able to evacuate safely. Firefighters, upon learning that an additional occupant might still be inside, the building entered and found the individual unresponsive. The unnamed victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine their cause of death. Meanwhile, the blaze's origins are being meticulously examined by the Lowell Fire Department, Lowell Police Department, and State Police troops attached to the Middlesex DA's office and the State Fire Marshal's office.

"My husband, Mike, he said, 'Listen, there's smoke coming down from the second floor, we've got to get out,'" she said in a statement obtained by NBC10 Boston. Her husband also reportedly witnessed an individual falling from a window on the second floor, adding a chilling visual to the testimonies of the night in question.
