Yesterday afternoon, tragedy struck on a Santa Rosa road when a head-on collision claimed the life of one driver and left two others with major injuries. According to a social media post from the CHP Santa Rosa, the incident occurred at 3:58 PM on Occidental Road, just east of Mill Station Road.

The preliminary investigation by the CHP revealed that the accident happened when a Honda Accord, heading east on Occidental Road, deviated from its lane and collided directly with a Jeep Wrangler traveling in the opposite direction. Transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, the driver and passenger of the Jeep sustained major injuries. As soon as they reached the hospital, the medical staff provided care.

The individual driving the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. While the investigation is ongoing, details about what caused the Honda to drift into the opposing lane have not been made public.
