A high-speed chase on the Pennsylvania Turnpike ended in a fatal shooting after a suspect allegedly stole an Ohio State Highway Patrol cruiser. According to WPXI, the incident began when the man engaged in a physical altercation with a trooper and then commandeered the trooper's vehicle, leading to a dramatic pursuit.

The chase eventually crossed state lines into Pennsylvania, and Greg Venbrux, a witness driving home from Ohio, observed the event unfold. "I just happened to be I guess there when the fight was taking place, and just weird timing," Venbrux shared with WPXI. After the suspect crashed and flipped the patrol car, Pennsylvania troopers confronted the suspect, which resulted in the man being fatally shot.

The Turnpike's eastbound lanes were closed following the incident, which occurred near Beaver Falls, east of the New Castle exit. Traffic was rerouted via I-376 West to Route 422 and then to Route 79 South to reach the Cranberry Interchange.

Sky 4 footage showed the aftermath of the Ohio State Highway Patrol vehicle being overturned near mile marker 15. In a report by WTAE, the Ohio State Highway Patrol had earlier responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash on the Ohio Turnpike, and it was after a trooper was assaulted that the suspect seized control of the Dodge Charger. The Pennsylvania State Police cited the use of "legal intervention" to halt the chase, leading up to the confrontation where troopers killed the suspect. There were no additional injuries reported.
