The FBI is reaching out to high school students in El Paso with a unique summer experience, focused on giving them a peek into the nation's federal law enforcement operations. As reported by the FBI El Paso Field Office, the FBI El Paso Teen Academy is set to provide students from 9th to 12th grade a firsthand look at what it takes to uphold the U.S. Constitution and protect the American people.

Describing the initiative, Special Agent in Charge John Morales highlighted the Teen Academy's potential to inspire, "Participating in the FBI El Paso Teen Academy is an exciting and unique opportunity for students who are passionate about making a difference in their communities and our nation," he explained, as per FBI El Paso Field Office, signaling the importance they place on cultivating future leaders with a dedication to public service. For the students this summer program is a chance to not only see but also engage with varied aspects of FBI work, that the program ranges from gathering evidence at crime scenes to understanding the tactics behind executing arrests they will have the chance to delve into topics such as terrorism, civil rights, and cyber programs, according to the FBI El Paso Field Office.

Open to students attending accredited public, private, or homeschool programs, the academy encourages applications from individuals of diverse academic backgrounds, not just those steeped in criminal justice studies. Candidates are expected to submit their applications, a release form, and a supporting essay by May 16, with notification of acceptance promised via email by May 30.
