In the early hours of Friday, Oak Park Police responded to a fatal shooting in the suburban neighborhood, leading to the arrest of five individuals, as detailed by ABC7 Chicago. A man, yet to be identified, was found with a gunshot wound on the 600 block of South Boulevard at approximately 1:23 a.m. and was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to the Loyola University Medical Center.
Following the incident, a witness told officers that they saw about five males, clad in black clothing, quickly flee the scene on foot. The Chicago Sun-Times report adds that these suspects, three adults and two minors, were later spotted running east on Pleasant Street from Cuyler Avenue and were subsequently taken into custody by the Oak Park Police Department. However, no weapons have been recovered in connection with the shooting.
The area was thrust into a brief state of disruption as the CTA Green Line service was interrupted while officers swarmed the vicinity to investigate the crime, as per ABC7 Chicago. The West Suburban Major Crimes Task Force has joined the Oak Park Police in their investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
