A Flint man, after being convicted on multiple felony charges, is facing the possibility of life in prison for the kidnapping and sexual assault of a child in 2022. Stokes King Tiggs, 37, was found guilty of one count each of kidnapping, first-degree criminal sexual conduct, second-degree criminal sexual conduct, criminal sexual conduct with intent of sexual penetration, accosting a child for immoral purposes, and aggravated indecent exposure, as confirmed by the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office.
As per ClickOnDetroit, the convictions stem from an incident at the Travel Inn on Dort Highway in Flint during the summer of 2022 whenTiggs held a child under the age of 13 against a wall and sexually assaulted them. While the assault was occurring, another juvenile who was also present in the room later reported the assault to adults, leading to a police investigation.
During the trial, evidence of a previous sexual assault from 2005 involving a now-deceased child was presented, according to FOX 2 Detroit. Further investigation revealed search history on Tiggs' tablet that included him searching for YouTube videos on how to give body massages to an 8-year-old and looking into laws in other countries regarding marriage to children.
"Stokes King Tiggs is a dangerous individual who sexually preys on others, especially young people," Prosecutor David Leyton told FOX 2 Detroit.
Tiggs, who has already served five years for a previous criminal sexual conduct conviction, has four more felonies pending, including charges related to kidnapping and criminal sexual conduct, as noted by WNEM.
Genesee County prosecutors are preparing for Tiggs' sentencing scheduled for April 29, where he faces up to life in prison.
