Gator fans are celebrating as their team advances to the National Championship Game after a 79-73 victory over Auburn in the Final Four. This marks their first appearance in the title game in nearly two decades, following a contest with multiple lead changes that concluded in Florida's favor, as News4Jax reports.
A key contributor to the Gators' victory was guard Clayton, who, according to Athlon Sports, scored a career-high 34 points on 11-of-18 shooting. He made five three-pointers and recorded back-to-back 30-point games during this crucial phase of the tournament. His and-one layup with just over a minute remaining helped secure the win for Florida.
In the second game of the night, Houston's defense played a key role in securing a win, as it disrupted Duke's offense throughout the game. Duke's offense was limited to just one field goal in the final 10:30, reflecting the strength of Houston's defense. Houston head coach Kelvin Sampson said, "the Cougars weren't going to let Flagg beat them," a strategy highlighted by ESPN, which noted that Duke's offense had difficulty finding space. After their significant win, the Gators are now set for the National Championship Game.
