In a case that has disrupted the quietude of St. Petersburg, a Florida man has been discovered residing with the decaying body of his elderly mother. As reported by FOX 35 Orlando, the macabre living situation came to light on Sunday after a concerned landlord informed the local police that he had been unable to contact the occupant, 92-year-old Susan King, for some months.
Upon their initial visit, the St. Petersburg Police were met by King's son, 67-year-old Michael Moulton, who assured them his mother was visiting a friend and would not return for a day or two. During that time, a visit to the home the following day revealed the grim reality: King's body was found in an alarmingly deteriorated state, as detailed by WTSP.
Moulton was subsequently taken into custody, not for his living conditions, but due to an outstanding 2013 arrest warrant for failing to appear in court on a theft charge. The Miami Herald states that while the preliminary autopsy revealed no signs of trauma or foul play, the situation has prompted an active investigation with the potential for additional charges.
