Last Friday, Folsom Police officers arrested a juvenile for firearm possession at a party that was being planned online. Officers were alerted about the event and responded quickly. The party organizers moved the location from Rancho Cordova to Cameron Park, eventually settling at the Leidesdorff parking garage. The event attracted many underage participants, as stated by the Folsom Police Department.
The Folsom Police Department reported that over 50 vehicles were turned away from a planned gathering by officers. One driver continued towards the event, but fled when an officer tried to stop the vehicle. The chase ended near a garage, where police found a loaded handgun in the driver's waistband, along with open alcohol containers and underage passengers.
According to the Folsom Police Department's Facebook page, a juvenile was arrested and booked into Sacramento County Juvenile Hall on firearm and evading charges after officers intervened at a pop-up party in the Leidesdorff parking garage. The department urges parents to "Please speak with your teens about the real dangers of these pop-up parties and the risks of firearm possession," and encourages the public to "If you see something concerning online or in your neighborhood, don’t hesitate to report it right away."
