Folsom residents are reminded not to throw household batteries in curbside bins. State law requires all household batteries to be disposed of as hazardous waste. This helps ensure safety and follows proper disposal regulations, according to the City of Folsom.

The City of Folsom is reminding residents that several locations are available for battery recycling. American River Ace Hardware, Best Buy, and Walmart have recycling bins near their entrances. Battery drop-off containers are also located at Folsom City Hall and the Folsom Public Library. Note that Home Depot only accepts rechargeable batteries.

The City of Folsom has placed hazardous waste collection containers at Lowe’s Home Improvement, Raley’s on East Bidwell Street, and WinCo Foods. Residents can also use the city’s free household hazardous waste collection service, which is included with regular waste services. To schedule a pickup or get more information, visit the city's waste collection page or call 916-461-6730.
