Heads up, Fort Collins residents and commuters: Starting April 28, the city is about to dive into the construction phase of the 2025 Wastewater Collection System Replacement Project, which means a full roadway closure on Loomis Street between Laporte Avenue and Oak Street. According to an announcement posted by the City of Fort Collins, this particular slice of infrastructure upheaval is expected to stretch over the next four weeks, granted the weather decides to play nice.
During construction hours, which the City defines as 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, street parking will be even more of a unicorn hunt than usual on Loomis Street from Laporte to Mountain Avenue, as detailed by the City of Fort Collins. Drivers, be ready to swiftly detour, as there will be no road access whatsoever between Mountain Avenue and Oak Street. The city claims to have detour routes posted; however, for those determined to navigate around the closure.
What's somewhat of a silver lining for non-vehicular travelers is that pedestrian pathways should remain largely unaffected. The sidewalks that crisscross the affected stretch of Loomis Street will continue to serve as foot-traffic veins amidst the roadwork artery. Nonetheless, locals should prepare for the undeniable inconvenience of driveway access potentially being compromised.
