Fort Worth Animal Care & Control has announced the phased reopening of its North Animal Campus, following a shutdown due to a distemper outbreak. Eager to minimize the risk of euthanasia and to help more animals find forever homes, the facility is taking careful steps to ensure both animal and human health safety. According to Fort Worth City, the adoptions are available primarily by appointment, which can be scheduled on their website.
As the campus welcomes visitors back, it has been noted that only Pods A and B will be accessible, with other areas remaining closed. While accommodating walk-ins based on staff availability, shoe covers will be provided on-site and required in all animal areas.
For those looking to adopt or foster, there's a beacon of hope. A group of dogs is available, fully vaccinated for their age and having tested negative for distemper twice. During visits to the campus, prospective adopters can engage in staff-supervised meet-and-greets with up to three pre-identified dogs in specially sanitized spaces designed for these interactions.
