In a somber conclusion to a weeklong trial, Edvardo Gomes-Da Silva, a 42-year-old Framingham resident, was found guilty of first-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of Neiriane Pereira-Da Silva, age 30. The announcement came from Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Framingham Chief of Police Lester Baker.

The incident, which occurred on July 17, 2022, prompted a 911 call at around 10:30 p.m. after blood was discovered on the stairway of a Taylor Street multi-family home. Framingham Police found both the victim and defendant with stab wounds inside an apartment. While Edvardo Gomes-Da Silva was transported to a Boston area hospital, Neiriane Pereira-Da Silva was taken to MetroWest Medical Center where she was subsequently pronounced dead. The Middlesex District Attorney's Office reported that the murder occurred amidst a breakup, with the victim looking to start anew with another man and expecting a child with him.

According to the investigation, jealousy had taken a brutal turn when Edvardo learned of his former partner's new relationship. He reacted violently upon discovering her plans to move on and have a child with someone else. "This is a tragic case of domestic violence.  Neiriane Pereira-Da Silva was attempting to start a new relationship when the defendant violently attacked her," DA Ryan stated, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office. "We know these circumstances can be especially dangerous for victims."

The investigation, having pulled together to comprehensively document the case, involved the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, Framingham Police, Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and Chemists from the State Lab. The prosecutors, Adrienne Lynch and Maren Schrader, led the charge, with Kristen Chamberlain serving as the Victim Witness Advocate.
