Fort Worth may have its share of fast cars and daring chases, but not all of them are scenes straight out of a heist movie. A vehicle theft turned police pursuit ended with the suspect in custody last night, thanks to the joint efforts of two local police departments. According to a social media post by the White Settlement Police Department, a courtesy shuttle was stolen from a dealership, sparking a chase by Fort Worth police that continued north on S. Las Vegas Trail from Calmont Avenue around 8:50 p.m.

The chase came to an abrupt end when the suspect crashed into a fire hydrant and a neighbor's fence in the 8900 block of Sunset Ct and S. Las Vegas Trail, the police report states. The perpetrator then made a break for it on foot, but not without catching the attention of White Settlement PD's Officer Conley, who happened to be nearby, and witnessed the crash and subsequent escape attempt. Conley's timely involvement enabled him to quickly mobilize additional units to establish a perimeter, virtually ensuring the apprehension of the suspect.

With the perimeter in place, reinforcement in the form of an FWPD Air One helicopter and a K9 unit was brought in to zero in on the fleeing suspect. The collective effort bore fruit as the suspect was arrested at around 9:30 p.m., fortunately, bringing the incident to a close without any injuries to the public.
