A Genesee County man has been found guilty on several felony charges connected to child pornography. John David Duford, 64, of Richfield Township, faced a jury and was convicted of three counts of producing child sexually abusive material, using a computer for criminal activity, and aggravated possession of child pornographic material, as reported by CBS News Detroit.

The case against Duford escalated when his roommate, while he was detained in a Tennessee jail, discovered suspect images on his computer. According to WNEM, her suspicions arose after receiving a call from Duford, who requested the destruction of an envelope which she was unable to find. The investigation revealed that he had already been serving time for raping a 14-year-old girl and creating abusive material involving her.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said, "This was a repulsive case, and this man is a danger to children in our community and elsewhere," in a statement obtained by ABC12. Upon searching Duford’s computer, his roommate found dozens of images and videos indicative of child pornography, which led to his recent conviction.

For the charges, which include up to 20 years for each count of creating abusive material and using a computer to commit a crime, along with 10 years for aggravated possession, Duford is facing a cumulative maximum sentence that could amount to 90 years. He is scheduled to be sentenced on May 7.
