Georgia's legal landscape saw a new appointment as Governor Brian P. Kemp named Inez Grant as the new Solicitor General of Hall County. This decision comes on the heels of Stephanie Woodard's recent resignation from the position. The official announcement released by the Governor's office yesterday marks the next step in Grant's longstanding career in law.

Inez Grant, the fresh Solicitor General, has roots deep in the Hall County area, being a member of the State Bar of Georgia since 1992. Her trajectory began in the trenches of the Hall County Solicitor General’s Office, where she played an integral role in setting up the county's Domestic Violence Taskforce. A pillar in her community, Grant also served as chief assistant to the former Solicitor General Jerry Rylee before her stint as chief assistant Solicitor General in Forsyth County. After dedicating 17 years to felony and misdemeanor prosecution, Grant put a pause on her prosecutorial work, driven by family priorities.

While distancing herself from full-time prosecution, Grant didn't stray far from law. She nurtured a thriving private practice in Hall County focusing on various niches—domestic litigation, criminal defense, and immigration law to name a few. Her legal acumen further extends to Guardian Ad Litem work and Juvenile Court matters. Grant, despite her numerous roles, found time to give back, coaching high school mock trial teams and meriting recognition by the State Bar for her involvement with the Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee.

In addition to her appointment, Grant balances her work by serving as the Solicitor for the City Court of Gainesville and City of Oakwood. Her academic credentials, obtained from Brenau University and Atlanta's John Marshall Law School, anchor her expertise. Outside the courtroom, she enjoys the company of her family and granddaughters, when not in court. The State Bar recognized her efforts in coaching high school mock trial teams. Grant's commitment to the law extends beyond her practice as she sits on Brenau University's Conflict Resolution and Legal Studies Advisory Board.

This new chapter for Hall County begins with Grant's appointment as Solicitor General. Her background includes a range of legal experience, which she brings to the role as she succeeds her predecessor and undertakes the responsibilities of the office.
