The City of Grand Prairie has teamed up with the Texas Golf Association to bring a new opportunity to the golfing community, focused on individuals with disabilities. This partnership aims to support adaptive golf programming and create more inclusive sports scenes in the city. In a grand move for inclusivity, the collaboration will see the Prairie Lakes Golf Course hosting free adaptive golf clinics. Meant for those with a disability that might make traditional golfing a challenge, the clinics are designed to adapt to the varying needs of each participant. Ray Cerda, Director of The City of Grand Prairie Parks, Arts & Recreation Department, emphasized the community spirit behind the clinics, “Bringing adaptive golf programs to Grand Prairie is about more than just the game – it’s about accessibility, connection, and community," according to a statement detailed by the City of Grand Prairie.
The clinics, set to kick off on May 12 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., will be led by qualified coaches trained in adaptive sports. These coaches will guide the participants through the game's nuances, ensuring a supportive and fun experience.
Registration is open for those interested in joining these inclusive sessions. The City of Grand Prairie and the TGA encourage anyone with a physical, sensory, or learning disability to sign up, not just to learn from great coaches but also to connect with a community that shares enthusiasm for the sport.
