As the two-year anniversary of Jontell White's unsolved homicide approaches, local authorities are renewing their request for public assistance. White, a 30-year-old father of two, was shot and killed outside Metro Grand Rapids nightclub on January 14, 2023. Despite continued efforts, the Grand Rapids Police Department (GRPD) has not yet identified significant leads in the case.
Authorities have spoken with several individuals present on the night of the murder, but believe more witnesses have yet to come forward. According to a report from WWMT, Detective Brandon Romero stated, “We’ve talked to many people who were outside the Metro Grand Rapids bar that night, but we believe there are still additional witnesses out there.”
On the night of White's death, the GRPD responded promptly to reports of gunfire. The suspect, described as wearing black clothing, managed to flee the scene. GRPD Chief Eric Winstrom has indicated that White may have been specifically targeted, as reported by WZZM13.
The investigation has been further complicated by a chase reported by state police shortly after the shooting, suggesting a possible link to the incident. While no charges have been filed in relation to the chase. Detective Romero has urged community members to contribute, emphasizing that even the smallest piece of information could be crucial in solving the case, as reported by WOODTV.
