Bay Area punk rock veterans Green Day are about to make their mark on Hollywood by getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. According to a post from the Hollywood Walk of Fame Instagram account, the ceremony is scheduled for Thursday at 11:30 AM in front of Amoeba Music in Hollywood. Green Day, known for their brash anthems and electric live shows, have been around since 1987, earning their stripes in the East Bay's punk scene before skyrocketing to global fame.
Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool are the men behind the music, and on this special occasion, they'll be honored by some equally famous friends. Tennis icon Serena Williams and the always delightful Ryan Reynolds are slated to speak at the ceremony. With the band's legacy spanning over decades, including hits like “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” that resonated with angsty teens and adults alike, it's no wonder they're being celebrated. Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez gushed about the trio's impact, "Green Day’s music has not only inspired generations but also served as the soundtrack to our lives," as KRON4 reported.
The event will be streamed live on the Walk of Fame’s website, ensuring fans worldwide can partake in the celebration. Adding a bit of rock 'n' roll history, this star will be the 2,810th since this storied sidewalk attraction's opening in 1960.
