Heads up, Gulfstream Boulevard travelers. Starting Wednesday, you'll need to factor in some extra commute time. The northbound lane between Apple Valley Avenue and Beaverhead Avenue is set to close from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., spanning Wednesday to Friday, as crews work on replacing a sidewalk section that's seen better days.
For those who usually take this route, prepare to follow the detour signs that will reroute you around the construction site. Consider leaving a bit earlier than usual during these days, just to be safe. Charlotte County Public Works Department advises – and we can't stress this enough – to stay vigilant and patient when driving near or through work zones.
And while we know detours can be an inconvenience, remember that it's all in the name of progress and safety. Upgraded sidewalks mean safer walks for pedestrians, and that's something every driver should be able to get behind.
Charlotte County Public Works Department isn't messing around when they say: "remain alert at all times and to exercise caution when traveling in the vicinity of construction zones." A little attention goes a long way towards keeping everyone safe, so keep those eyes on the road and not on your phone. It might be tempting to try and shave off a minute or two by speeding. Let's all do our part to make sure the only thing that’s changing here is the pavement.
