A woman in Harris County is facing theft charges for allegedly stealing more than a hundred dollars' worth of lamb chops from a Sam's Club. FOX 26 Houston reports that the suspect, identified as Patricia Edwards, attempted to conceal and exit the store with the goods without paying. The incident took place at the Sam's Club located on East Richey Road.
According to details from the Harris County Constable Precinct 4, responding to a call about the theft, loss prevention personnel claimed having seen Edwards passing all points of sale with the concealed lamb chops valued at over $128. After recovering the stolen items upon arriving, officials stated that the merchandise was returned to the business, according to a post by Harris County Constable Precinct 4 on Facebook.
Further scrutiny into Edwards' background revealed she was already sought for a previous infraction, having an open warrant for violation of bond conditions. This discovery complicates her situation, with theft charges now stacking onto her existing legal troubles.
"Patricia Edwards was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for the open warrant and charged with Theft. Her bond was set at $100.00 out of County Court 12," Harris County Constable Precinct 4 Herman pointed out in the statement. It appears that Edwards has a history with the law, complicating what at face value seems like a straightforward case of shoplifting.
