A devastating three-vehicle collision claimed the life of a Havre de Grace man and sent several individuals, including three juveniles, to hospital for treatment yesterday morning in Harford County, the Maryland State Police reported.
According to the State Police, at just past 10 a.m., Tyler Lingenfelter, aged 33, was driving a Chevrolet Traverse on eastbound Churchville Road (MD-22) when his vehicle, for reasons still to be determined, crossed into the oncoming traffic lane and collided head-on with a box truck. The force of the collision was severe enough to induce the box truck to crash into a Ford Transit van. Lingenfelter was pronounced dead at the scene, while three minors who were passengers in his Traverse were quickly transported to local hospitals to receive medical attention for their injuries directly.
Emergency personnel from multiple agencies, including the Maryland State Police Bel Air and JFK Highway Barracks, the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, and local fire and sheriff's departments, responded to the scene. They were joined in their efforts by the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration and the Harford County Department of Emergency Services. Both drivers of the box truck and Ford Transit van were also injured and taken to area hospitals.
