Hawai‘i Island law enforcement is currently seeking the public's assistance in the search for two young women reported as runaways. Police efforts are focused on locating 15-year-old Divine Benn and 16-year-old Jaymelynn Pua-Queja, who have both been missing for a number weeks from their respective homes.
Benn was last seen at her residence in Pāhoa on the evening of January 29, wearing a grey jacket, black shorts, and black Crocs footwear. She is approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds, with black shoulder-length hair and brown eyes. Pua-Queja went missing almost a month later, last seen at her family’s home in Nā‘ālehu on February 8. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a grey sweater and blue jeans. Described as 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds, Pua-Queja also has dark-brown shoulder-length hair and brown eyes.
The police are encouraging anyone with information about either of the girls' whereabouts to come forward. Contact can be made through the police department’s non-emergency line or directly with Acting Detective Corey Kaneko via phone or email. Details and contact information were provided in a public alert issued by the Hawai‘i Police Department.
The report included photos of both Benn and Pua-Queja to assist the public in identifying them. Benn is shown in a red jacket, though she was last seen wearing gray, and Pua-Queja is depicted wearing a grey sweatshirt. These images may aid in locating the two missing individuals. The community’s involvement can be an important factor in resolving such cases.
