
Hawai‘i Island police are once again seeking public assistance in the cases of three missing individuals from the Puna District. Jarryd Lee Kalanihuli Ah Quin, 39, Joseph David Smithey, 56, and Jennifer Michelle Showen, 43, have been missing for several years. Police urge anyone with information to come forward, according to the Hawaii Police Department.
Jarryd Lee Kalanihuli Ah Quin, was last seen in early October 2019 and has not been heard from since. He was known to frequent the Hilo and Puna areas. Joseph David Smithey, was last seen at his home on Lehua Street in Mountain View in late May 2021 and was reported missing a month later. Jennifer Michelle Showen, was reported missing in early July 2022 after being last seen at her home in the Hawaiian Beaches subdivision on Ina Street in Pāhoa, as reported by the Hawaii Police Department.
Detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigation Section have conducted interviews, reviewed cellphone and financial records, and followed up on tips from the public in their investigation of several missing person cases. The police suspect foul play may be involved. "Police ask anyone with information on any of these cases to please call the police department’s non-emergency number at (808) 935-3311, or Crime Stoppers at (808) 961-8300," as they continue to seek information, as stated by the Hawaii Police Department.
