A Licking County man has been handed a prison sentence exceeding two decades for his crimes related to child pornography. David Hamilton, a 27-year-old resident of Heath, Ohio, will serve 293 months behind bars, a punishment handed down by the U.S. District Court for grievous offences, including the intention to sexually abuse young boys and the possession of child pornography.
Details from the case reveal a harrowing level of predation, as disclosed in court documents. With unsettling specificity, Hamilton, along with a co-defendant, discussed plans to drug and assault an approximately 6-year-old boy whom Hamilton was to babysit. According to the Justice Department's statement, Hamilton also made arrangements to create a family consisting solely of boys to feed their abusive intentions.
The case against Hamilton unfolded when law enforcement, armed with search warrants, raided his residence and uncovered incriminating materials. Amongst the items belonging to Hamilton, officers found anti-depressants, children's diapers, lubricating jelly, condoms, and stuffed animals, alluding to the prep work for his perverse schemes.
Adding to the gravity, the Federal Bureau of Investigation received additional reports involving Hamilton's exploitation, one coming from a minor male. Exposed to online threats by Hamilton, the minor was coerced into producing and uploading child pornography. "Hamilton gave the minor male his username and password to various platforms to upload the created content there, threatening the minor male if he did not comply," according to a report by the Justice Department. In a further somber revelation, the minor confirmed Hamilton's involvement in online groups engaged in horrific acts against children.
Investigators discovered thousands of abusive images and videos on Hamilton's devices, some involving victims as young as infants, as he pleaded guilty to charges including the creation and possession of child pornography in August of last year. The recent sentencing, delivered on Monday, was presided over by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Sarah D. Morrison, with Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio Kelly A. Norris, and Special Agent in Charge Elena Iatarola of the FBI's Cincinnati Division, alongside Licking County Sheriff Randy Thorp.
