The Henderson Police Department announced that K9 Rado, a black Belgian Malinois, has died following complications from emergency surgery. Rado was born on April 14, 2023, and joined the department in July 2024, as reported by the Henderson Police Department.
Rado worked with the Henderson Police Department for nine months. During that time, he helped bring about five peaceful surrenders and located two fleeing suspects. His work showed the results of his training and coordination with his handler, Officer J. Kneynsberg. The department stated, "Though his time with our department was brief—just nine months—Rado made a lasting impact."
According to the Henderson Police Department on their Facebook page, K9 Rado, a service dog, worked alongside Officer Kneynsberg. Off duty, Rado was known for his calm and friendly demeanor. The department stated, “He was not just a working dog—he was a companion, a teammate, and a friend.” The department also expressed condolences, saying, “We extend our deepest condolences to Officer Kneynsberg and thank K9 Rado for his dedication and loyalty. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and worked with him. Rest easy, Rado.”
