
Early Wednesday morning, a vehicle theft turned into a high-speed chase after Metro Police responded to a break-in report in the Hickory Hollow area of Antioch. The victim told authorities that one of the suspects had brandished a weapon during the theft and provided a detailed description of the suspect's vehicle, a Nissan Maxima. According to information provided by WKRN, the chase began when officers spotted the vehicle on Bell Road near Interstate 24.
The Metro Nashville Police Department announced that the driver fled from a traffic stop, leading to a crash off Rural Hill Road into a wooded area, in a statement obtained by WSMV. The pursuit, which started around 5:30 a.m., resulted in three arrests, including two adults, Deontay Staten, 22, De’Quaeveon Jackson, 18, and a 17-year-old male.
Following the crash, the three suspects attempted to escape on foot but were later apprehended. As per the reports by FOX 17, Staten is facing a slew of charges that include vehicle theft, evading arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, and being a fugitive from justice with existing felony warrants in Kentucky. With a past car theft conviction in Nashville, Staten's bond is currently set at $98,000.
De’Quaeveon Jackson has been charged with vehicle theft, evading arrest, and leaving the scene of a crash. His bond was set at $20,500, as reported by multiple sources. The 17-year-old involved in the incident was charged in Juvenile Court for his role in the vehicle theft, evading arrest, and leaving the scene of an accident.
