Michael Devon Webb, a 21-year-old man from Highland Township, has been charged with first-degree murder and felony firearm in the death of his 23-year-old fiancée, Rachel Renee Wooten. The incident, described as a "domestic violence tragedy," occurred on Tuesday, as per WLNS.

Webb initially told 911 that he accidentally shot himself and his fiancée while cleaning his gun at their home in the 200 block of Maple. However, evidence at the scene contradicted his story. Authorities found the couple's 6-month-old child unharmed. Sheriff Michael Bouchard said, "I am proud of our investigators and team that responded to a tragic death and unraveled a false offered narrative to hold an individual accountable," as reported by The Detroit News.

Michael Devon Webb was shot and wounded, apparently by the same bullet that killed Wooten. Webb claimed the shooting was an accident while handling the gun, but authorities are questioning this. Oakland County Prosecutor Karen D. McDonald said, "Her entire life was ahead of her, until it was ended in what appears to be a domestic violence tragedy," according to The Detroit News. Webb was arraigned in 52-1 District Court, where Judge Andra V. Richardson denied him bond. A probable cause conference is set for April 30, and court records do not list an attorney for Webb.
